Hi—my name’s Annabelle, the artist behind Lighten.
Based in San Diego, California, I design functional and decorative art that values quality over hype.
My craft explores an expanding universe of media: glass, prints, postcards, drawings, zines, 3D objects, and more. I navigate my practice on two core principles:
Produce work that enriches your experience of the world
Expand my creative capacity with every project
Many artists produce safe (and mediocre) work because they are subject to the demands of conventional social systems, algorithms, and political movements.
Lighten is totally untethered from that nonsense. I value honesty, elegance, simplicity, and independence. I make real art for real people—so you won’t find me on social media.

Let's elevate your space with elegant windows. I craft custom art glass installations, traditional and experimental, to bring more light and style to your space.
After training at Willet Studios, one of North America’s oldest and most prominent stained glass studios, I learned traditional glazing techniques at the highest level—then brought those skills back to San Diego.
I deliver quality craftsmanship, with experience in copper foil and leaded glass methods, from miniature panels to twelve-foot liturgical windows.

Graphics
My graphics begin as explorations in calligraphic ink drawings—genuine studies of forms—which I translate digitally into functional and decorative artworks.
From postcards, greeting cards, and custom envelopes, to small zines and fine art prints, my goal is to provide objects that generate real pleasure, connectivity, and conversation for you and your loved ones.
